2023年度は、以下を行った。
①オンラインツール開発のための基礎資料整備の一環として、昨年度作成した「留学生向けアカデミックライティング用教材で取り上げている言語項目リスト（以下、「AW教材項目リスト」）の「接続表現」を対象に、それらの項目が日本語母語話者による書き言葉でどのように使用されているかを調査した。調査は、①「AW教材項目リスト」に加え、接続表現の専門書3冊（石黒2008，2016、日本語記述文法研究会編2009）で取り上げられている項目のリスト化、②「AW教材項目リスト」にある項目（99項目）及び、「AW教材項目リスト」にないものの専門書3冊に共通して取り上げられている項目（44項目）を最終分析項目（計143項目）とし、「BCCWJ」でそれらの出現状況を分析するという手順で行った。
②上記の網羅的な調査に加え、書き言葉における接続表現の出現状況について詳細に分析する方法を検討する目的で、「結論」に関連する接続表現5項目を対象に、ジャンルとレジスターや前接、後接する用言の種類について予備調査を行った。
③シンガポール教育省語学センター日本語科の依頼を受け、これまでの研究成果に基づき、「作文の評価とフィードバック」というテーマでセミナーを実施した（2023年10月12日及び19日、Zoom開催）。また、大学生による接続表現の使用実態に関するコーパス調査の結果を論文にまとめ、「日本語母語話者と日本語学習者の接続表現の比較―日本語・中国語・韓国語・英語を母語とする大学生の日本語作文を対象に―」というタイトルで投稿した（2024年7月刊行予定）。さらに、今後の方向性に関して検討するために「AI時代に求められるライティング学習・教育支援とは何か」というテーマで日本語教育学会秋季大会の交流ひろばにて意見交換を行った。 -

In this study, we analyzed the factors that determine the quality of an opinion essay from the perspectives of the assessor specialties, writer categories, and essay levels to reveal the characteristics of highly assessed essays, essays whose assessments were mixed, and so on. We also developed an essay-writing rubric and educational materials for essay writing based on the findings obtained from the analysis.
The developed teaching material focuses on academic style, language expression to enhance cohesiveness, and content and organization to improve persuasiveness. It also includes a rubric developed based on assessment data collected from university faculty. The results of empirical research with opinion essay corpora and evaluation data were utilized in developing materials. These can contribute to the education and learning of Japanese academic writing for international students. -
Assessment of Academic Writing by University Japanese Language and Humanities/Social Science Teachers: towards the Development and Verification of Assessment Standards

This research project aimed to investigate what factors in Japanese opinion essays, written by both Japanese and international students, affect assessment by university teachers. The data was collected from 44 university teachers and consisted of 5-point scale values from holistic scoring and free descriptive comments on both good and/or bad points of the essays. The main findings of the analysis were as follows:
(1) Regarding the linguistic aspects of the essays, the number of kanji and vocabulary from the latter half of the intermediate level and the first half advanced level used, the application of content words, the overall variety of words, and the number of total characters contributed to evaluating the essays as “good.” (2) The assessors generally focused on assessing work in the following order: 1. content, 2. language, 3. organization, and 4. form, however, this order would change depending on the scale value of the essay and/or the first language of the writer. -
Factors affecting the semantic inferences of polysemic words among Japanese Language Learners

This research aimed to investigate factors affecting the acquisition of Sino-Japanese kanji compound words (Wasei-kango) among Japanese language learners, and to construct a new database of Japanese-Chinese contrastive kanji compound words. This is necessary for research into Japanese language acquisition. The new database of 2,078 Japanese kanji compound words was published in March 2017. This database includes both Japanese and Chinese vocabulary properties, such as script, reading, degree of vocabulary difficulty, frequency, orthographical and phonological difference between Japanese and Chinese, meanings and so on. With regard to the acquisition of Wasei-kango, research was conducted with two groups of Chinese native speakers: one group with no experience of learning Japanese and the other with an advanced level of Japanese. The results showed that the difficulty of semantic inferences correlates to the difficulty of acquisition.

The current study investigated the use of linguistic forms and rhetoric structures by Japanese speakers in English opinion essays. This study is authorised by the Ethics Committee of Tokyo Healthcare University and has accomplished collecting English and Japanese essay data of 231 native speakers and second language learners along with their consent form. The written data has been opened to the public on the Net so that any researchers in the world have can access to it. The data is called The Corpus of Multilingual Opinion Essays by College Students (MOECS).
We have presented and published our studies using the corpus. We have also accepted presenting three of our studies at three conferences in 2016. -

The purpose of this study is to examine how accurately the Chinese native speakers learning Japanese have acquired the collocation patterns of (1) S-word (Kango), one type of Japanese-Chinese lexical homograph, which shares the same meaning with Chinese language, and (2) Japanese-origin word (Wago), which shares one kanji character with S-word. The results of our analysis show that (1) both Kango and Wago ,which co-occur with the same word with Chinese language, have been acquired accurately not only by the participants with advanced-level of Japanese proficiency but also by the intermediate-level participants.

コーパスを用いた論文作成のための基本語彙・慣用的共起表現の抽出

ここ数年コーパスを利用した研究も増えているが,新聞や小説などが電子化されたテキスト,国語研究所による学習者作文コーパスなどが中心で,論文を基にした大規模なコーパスはあまり構築,公開されていない。本研究は,コーパスを用いて学術的な語彙や慣用的共起表現を明示するための基礎研究として位置づけられる。
平成19年度は,服飾・デザイン分野の論文をコーパス化した中から,抽出した和語動詞と単漢字について分析を行った。和語動詞は共起する名詞の頻度に着目し,論文で用いられる日本語の名詞と動詞の組み合わせの調査を行った。その結果,基本的な和語動詞が難易度の高い漢字語彙とともに用いられていることが明らかとなった。
また,単漢字は使用頻度の高いものを抽出し,他分野の使用頻度の高い漢字と比較して,分野を超えて横断的に用いられる共通の単漢字と,分野ごとに異なる特徴的な単漢字とに分類した。さらに,使用頻度上位の単漢字と,その漢字を使用した漢字語彙について調査を行った。その結果,使用頻度の高い漢字は,日本語能力試験3,4級レベルの基礎的なものが多いことが明らかとなったが,それらの漢字が構成している漢字語彙は,分野を超えて横断的なものと,分野によって異なるものとに分けられた。これらの成果をもとに,今後,漢字学習の効率化を図るための教材を作成していきたい。 -
