英語AIツールが実用的になり、英語教育を劇的に変化させる可能性がある。その中で本研究は、(1)ライティングプロセスの認知科学的分析、(2)ライティングに必要な文法的知識の言語学的分析、また努力目標として(3)ライティングへの教育的介入を行う計画である。
2024年度は、以下の2点を行った。
第一に、2023年度に行ったライティングプロセスの認知科学的分析について、日本認知科学会第41回大会において発表を行った。2023年度に本報告書で報告した内容に加え、発表では、ヘイズとフラワーのモデルを拡張し、AI翻訳を用いた英作文プロセスをモデル化した。ヘイズとフラワーのモデルの特徴は、文章産出プロセスを構想、記述、推敲に分類していることである。ここに英語と日本語の言語の区別とAI翻訳の役割を表現した。構想段階では英語と日本語の区別はせずに、記述と校正では英語と日本語に分けた。そして、英語と日本語をつなぐ部分にAI翻訳を入れた。この拡張モデルの中に、おおむね対応すると考えられる本研究の操作を埋め込んだ。
第二に、上記のモデルに基づいて英作文プロセスを明らかにするための調査計画を立案した。調査はインターネットを用いて行われる形式にして、必要なサンプルサイズを確保しやすくした。調査では、「英語ライティング（英作文）におけるAI英語支援ツールの日常的な使い方」について上記のモデルに基づいた分類の中で当てはまるものを選択してもらい、他の変数（AI英語支援ツールを用いた英語ライティング（英作文）を行う対象、英語ライティング力（英作文力）等）との相関を見る形式とした。この調査は2025年度に実施予定である。 -
