    Four research categories were established for this study: (1) strategy and organizational structure, (2) human capital and human resources, (3) organizational capacity, and (4) global business history. For (1), research results were published. For (2), (A) key workers, (B) engineers, and (C) managers were analyzed and are being prepared for publication. In (3), a theoretical review was conducted and preparations were made to clarify what kind of organizational capabilities each company had formed and what advantages and weaknesses it had, based on the results of (1) and (2) and in conjunction with the study in (4). In (4), preparatory work was conducted to clarify how each company formed its industry in the global arena, relying on the results of studies (1), (2), and especially (3).

    This research focuses on three companies, Hitachi, General Electric, and Siemens, which are general electric companies that have continued to be the leading companies in the electrical machinery industry, which represents the twentieth century industries. By comparing and examining “Strategy and organizational structure”, “Functions” and “Social relationship” in the period from its birth to today, this research highlights the characteristics of Japanese companies, American companies and German companies, and also analyzes the competition, coordination and mutual penetration of companies in three countries, which will contribute to “International business history”. Furthermore, it was carried out for the purpose of comprehensive research that clarified common characteristics as a twentieth century company or a general electric company.

    In this study the formation and transformation of behavior pattern of top Managers in famous German chemical companies has been examined. The materials used in the Analysis have been gathered through field works as the Primary data. The viewpoint of the study is based on the HRM and Corporate Governance. As the results the following findings can be mentioned: There is a difference between Family Company and decentralized owned company regarding the Regulatory force of supervisory boards imposed on directors boards; the co-determination had a relatively subordinated role in the Formation of HRM applied to top Managers; the Momentum of Technology has played an important role in the selection of top Managers in Family owned Company.

    In this research project an empirical study on human resource management applied to the personnel group ranging from top managers to middle managers was carried out based on the case studies relating to two important German chemical companies. As a concrete research method here the analyses of individual data of each manager and of minutes of executive boards including confidential secrets of each company could be mentioned. As a result the whole structure of HRM-system of the German companies selected as research objects was revealed. A part of the research results were already published in some academic journals or books; further treatises relating to the project would be published in the near future.
