当該年度は依然としてコロナ禍の影響が大きく、研究の進展ははかばかしいものではなかった。本研究が計画していたのは、第一に文献調査、第二に調査に基づく分析、第三に分析に基づく考察である。このうち、現地調査が許される状況になかったため、第二・第三の研究計画も見直しを必要とされたのが痛手であった。
そのため、既存の資料をもとにデータの精査を行うこととなった。進展としては、玉屋本『日本書紀』巻第五における中臣祓に付された祭文について、幾分か手掛かりとなりうる資料を発見したことが挙げられる。現時点ではただちに発表しうる水準の分析にはいたっていないが、次年度（2022年度）に文献調査が可能となった場合は、すみやかに関連資料についての調査を行いたい。
また、『日本書紀』関連資料である『古事記』の検討を行った結果、新たな知見を得ることができたため、2021年度中に論文として公刊した。これは、『古事記』において重要な役割を果たす須佐之男命の在りようについての論考である。従来、須佐之男命は暴虐神と英雄神との二面性を有するものとして考えられ、その「矛盾」ともいえる造形について様々な論考がすすめられてきた。報告者はこの二面性が天神（あまつかみ）としての転身によるものであることを前提に、これまでは等閑視されてきた大気津比売神殺害条にその契機があることを明らかにした。
さらに、本申請課題とは直接の関係をもたないが、いくつか計量国語学の手法に基づく論考を公開した。この手法は今後、『日本書紀』の諸本系統を定量的に示す可能性があると報告者は考えている。 -

In this study, we focused on the manuscript of the non-Urabe line, which was often overlooked in the past, about the enjoyment of 'Nihon shoki'. This is because the study of 'Nihon shoki' so far mainly focused on the manuscripts of the Urabe line, but ignored the manuscripts not belonging to the Urabe line. Therefore, the authors conducted a comparative study of closely related books such as the Mishima book, the Tamaya book, and the Tamenawa book. As a result, it was possible to clarify how the manuscripts not belonging to the Urabe line were influenced by ideological and social contexts other than 'Nihon shoki'.

The purpose of this study is to research materials (documents and pictures) possessed by Hoshuin, a Shingon temple located in Kita Ward, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture in Japan. Board of Education of Osaka City had already conducted a research of cultural properties of Hoshuin before, however it targeted primarily at statues of Buddha, and specific researches have almost never been conducted on documents and pictures. For the last four years, I have researched documents and pictures, by recording related data all, and began inspection operation of data.

Research on Transcriptions of the Nihon-Shoki, Focusing on the Mishima Version of the Nihon-Shoki

I conducted research on the Nihon-Shoki housed at the Mishima Taisha and the three books appended to it. Scholars have already observed that the Nihon-Shoki housed at the Mishima Taisha is a variant of the Ruiju-Kokushi, a history book written during the Heian period. This research reveals that the text of the Nihon-Shoki housed at the Mishima Taisha differs from that of the existing Ruiju-Kokushi. Moreover, it also reveals that this Nihon-Shoki illustrates an ancient form that goes back to the existing Ruiju-Kokushi.

The following were the main findings : First, the data base of Sendai-kuji-hongi had been made. Up to now, there has been no electronic data of Sendai-kuji-hongi. Therefore, the accurate data have be able to be made by the research. Secondarily, before Nihongi-discourse and the situation of material was clarified to some degree. Especially, The research has been enabled to obtain the knowledge of theory of Yoshida-Shinto. The research is continuously scheduled. In addition, compare Seindai-kuji-hongi with prior texts, it has showed clearly a difference of each narration.

古事記を中心とした日本古代文学の物語論的研究

本年度は前年度までの研究の総まとめとして、古事記および日本書紀を比較・対照したうえで、上代散文における物語の構造解析とその展相を見定めることを目的として研究を行った。その研究の成果として、「日本書記の「昔」「古」(『文学史研究』47)および「日本書記の冒頭表現」(『萬葉語文研究』3)を発表した。
前者では、作品のなかにある「昔」「古」の様相を整理し、その在りようを論じた。同じく地の文において「昔」あるいは「古」とあっても、その用法は大きく、物語の外から、物語そのものを概括的に示すものと、物語のなかで出来事の配列が交錯するときにその順序を示すような、物語の中でのものとに分かれる。以上のような「古」「昔」の在りようは時間表現の乱用ではなく、漢籍に学びかつそれを的確に使いこなす、上代における表現の豊かさとしてあることを指摘した。
後者では、第一段正文および一書を総体的に捉え、とくに正文が前半と後半とに分かれること、そしてその前半から後半へと繋がる文脈がいかにあるかを論じた。特に、前半が「古」から始まり、それを承けて後半が「故日」とあることの意味を考察した。そして「古」は、後半以降の生成説としての内容からみた、いつともしれぬ太古の時間を絶対化して示すものとして理解される。原初の時間を示すことで日本書記は始まる。あるいは、そのような時間を示さねば作品そのものを切り開くことはできなかったと考えられる。
以上の研究により、従来の作品論的研究とはまた別な観点から作品の構造的な差異を明確にすることが可能となった。ここに、物語論的研究は従来の作品論の新たなる展開として、その局面を提示するものとして位置づけられる。
