    本研究では、品質管理の領域における狩野モデルの「魅力的品質」「当たり前品質」や、行動科学におけるHerzbergの「動機づけ要因」「衛生要因」と同様に、学生にとっての就職条件にも「魅力的就職条件」と「当たり前就職条件」が存在するという新たな枠組みを提示する。その上で、大学生に対して就職条件のアンケート調査を実施し、そこから得られた「就職した場合の満足度」のデータを用いて、本研究で提示した「魅力的就職条件」と「当たり前就職条件」の枠組みの実証分析を行うことにより、その妥当性を検討していくことにする。

    The distribution of ratings changes plays a crucial role in many credit risk models. As is well-known, these distributions vary across time and different issuer types. Ignoring such dependencies may lead to inaccurate assessments of credit risk. We introduce a new approach to improve the performance of rating prediction models for multinational corporations. In the last decade, neural networks have emerged from an esoteric instrument in academic research to a rather common tool assisting auditors, investors, portfolio managers and investment advisors in making critical financial decisions. It is apparent that a better understanding of the network's performance and limitations would help both researchers and practitioners in analysing real-world problems. The objectives of this research is to verify the effectiveness of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and examine and compare the stability of rating structures of rating agencies in the United States and Japan. Method to predict corporate ratings by public quantitative information in a inter-temporally stable manner would be useful from the perspective of cost-benefit performance especially in recent rapidly changing economic situation. We find that ANNs has more explanatory power in many cases than models by previous research and that R&I and Moody’s changed rating structure significantly in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

    This paper has examined three research issues: the interaction between diversity management and corporate performance, the qualitative and quantitative effects of the promotion of diversity, and the negative effects of the promotion of diversity on corporate performance.
    Addressing the first research issue of the interaction between diversity management and corporate performance, an increase in the ratio of female employees to all employees, compared to the industry average, leads to an improvement in the ROA.Increasing the proportion of women in middle management, compared to the industry average, has an effect of improving the ROA, particularly in companies with relatively fewer employees.With regard to the proportion of female executives above the level of department head, the interaction is similar to that of the proportion of women in middle management, except that in this case, diversity contributes to profit only if the company is small.

    This study examined the contribution on the productivity of the companies by the intra-company wage differences as a measure of the performance-based wage systems and got some significant results and implications for management. Analyses on all industries implied that larger wage differences do not motivate employees of Japanese companies. Analyses by nonlinear models to confirm the existence of the optimal wage differences implied the existence of the optimal wage differences in a few industries, but aggregately worst wage differences are recognized. Because maximum wage differences are higher than optimal or worst wage differences, this result should be interpreted as the reconfirmation of the result by linear models. Concretely, effects by wage differences on the productivity decrease, as wage differences expand. This study assumes wage differences can be adjusted flexibly, but actually, range of wage differences that manager can adjust is not so wide.

    In the midst of globalization, a declining birth rate, and an aging population, it has long been recognized in Japan that the female workforce needs to be better utilized in the Japanese labor market. Among developed countries, Japan lags in terms of the utilizing its female workforce. Various interrelated factors—including the custom of lifetime employment, long working hours for full-time employees, lack of measures to support work-childcare balance, discrimination against female employees in the workplace, and a lack of job market awareness among working women—are responsible for this lag in female workforce participation. However, if female workforce participation can enhance corporate earnings and competitiveness (a growing need in the current economic environment), then actively promoting the utilization of the female workforce may help companies improve their performance.

    As a US-Japanese comparison, we have undertaken empirical studies in the bond markets, during the Lehman shock. The result showed some problems in bond rating method particularly in the Japanese side.We have also focused on the CSR (corporate social responsibility) database issued by Toyo Keizai. That database provided us with effective bases for building multidimensional corporate appraisal models. Utilizing the concept of “financial gatekeeper”, we have built some fuzzy models, entropy models, information asymmetry models.

    The purpose of this research was to conduct positive analysis on whether a neural network can function well enough as a method of analyzing the decision structure of ranking. A neural network was used to analyze the determinants of the decision structure of ranking in Moody's Investors Service and Standard & Poor's Corp. of the United States or the ranking research institute and the rating and investment information center of Japan, aiming to elucidate the decision structure of ranking, and was also used to analyze the manufacturing industry. These analyses provided highly accurate information that was found to be much more accurate than the information obtained with the existing analysis method. However, the characteristics of this information in the finance business have not been clarified yet. I would like to continue to research financial institutions using this method in the future.
