多元化する国際法秩序の中で、多元化を促す個々の制度の形成要因や運用の実態の実証研究をおこなうとともに、多元化された法秩序を包摂するより体系的な分析枠組みの可能性を検討した。特に近年のその進展が著しい投資協定及び投資協定仲裁を主要な検討対象として、その主要な規律内容と紛争処理手続を通じた解釈実践の分析、また近年の投資協定仲裁による解釈実践の集積が、諸国が新たに締結する投資協定の規定に与えた影響などについても調査研究を行なった。
