    Strawberry, a vital crop in horticulture, faces challenges like pest infestations and climate variability that affect stable production. A crop model based on photosynthesis-derived dry matter (DM) production is an effective method to examine the environment-plant growth relationship. The developed model simulates total DM production and yield overtime using greenhouse environment, each inflorescence anthesis dates, leaf area, and physiological parameters as inputs. Total DM production was accurately simulated by inputting leaf area measured by either destructive measurement or web-camera based imaging without destructive measurements (RRMSE = 0.15 and 0.17). Cumulative yields closely matched measured values across two distinct growing seasons (RRMSE = 0.11-0.15). The monthly yield generally aligned with the observed values, except at the beginning and end of the harvest period, where the model tended to overestimate production. These result suggested the process of DM distribution calculation based on the potential growth of the individual leaves and fruit clusters present on that day was effective in capturing the dynamics of DM distribution to the fruit. The model could be applied to strawberry production in greenhouses controlled with optimal ranges for the plant growth. The model's applicability to diverse greenhouse conditions would be broadened by improving the physiological parameters in future work.

    <p>Sauvage cultivation (hereinafter referred to as "sauvage") is a new labor-saving and low-cost cultivation method for producing cherry tomatoes in the open field. Compared with conventional single-stem cultivation (hereinafter "conventional"), the plant density is lower and the workload for the removal of side branches or training is not necessary. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting the yield of sauvage in terms of dry matter production compared with those of conventional. Cherry tomatoes (variety Rossonapolitan) were grown by sauvage in 2017. Compared with the yields in conventional, the yields in sauvage were lower until 77 DAT, but became higher after 83 DAT. Until 77 DAT, the low total dry weight and low ratio of dry matter distribution to fruit were the cause of low initial yield in sauvage. The former was caused by the lower LAI and the lower light extinction coefficient of sauvage. The requirement for photoassimilates for lateral branches resulted in reduced distribution rates to the fruit. After 83 DAT, there was no difference in light use efficiency between sauvage and conventional, the increase in LAI resulted in equal light intereception and thus the same dry matter production. The ratio of dry matter distribution to fruit was also the same between conventional and sauvage, so the fruit production rate became similar between sauvage and conventional. Because there is no need for training the plants, growers can harvest for a longer period with a smaller workload, as a result, the yields are comparable or higher than those of conventional, although initial yields are low.</p>

    We investigated a method to accurately determine plant height spatially from a top view of paprika plants (cultivar Fairway) using a low-cost 3D Kinect from Microsoft. Comparison of plant height between measured values and calculated values (using four types of algorithms) showed that averaging the distance of the top 10 % of pixels closer to the Kinect and then multiplying by a factor of 1.1 yielded the most accurate data. In addition, we developed an algorithm that automatically tracked the shoot apex of plants to measure individual plant and showed that plant height can be measured with high accuracy. The coefficient of determination (R<SUP>2</SUP>) was 0.99 or higher, when the calculated and measured values were compared. In addition, it was possible to deduce that humidity deficit reduced plant growth when meteorological data were correlated to changes in plant height recorded by Kinect. The results indicate that changes in plant height recorded by Kinect could be a useful tool for diagnosing plant growth environments. When measurements were recorded at 10-min intervals at night, we observed rapid increase in plant height due to sleeping movement, specifically, an hour after sunset. Therefore, it is advisable to ensure that plants are free of sleeping movement effects for the accurate measurement of plant height.

    The use of environmental control systems in greenhouse horticulture is essential to increase dry matter production and fruit yield.This study assessed the effect of different combinations of CO2 concentration given over varying application periods,and temperature and relative humidity(RH)control on the dry matter production and distribution to the fruits of tomatoes grown in a greenhouse during winter(December-April).Compared with the control(no CO2 supplementation)and the conventional environmental control method(2000 ppm CO2 supplementation from 06:00 to 12:00),the longer period of CO2 application at lower concentration(800 ppm) combined with RH control led to an increase in the total dry matter production of 3-month-old tomato plants.The results indicated that CO2 supplementation is more effective for increasing dry matter distribution to the fruits at higher greenhouse temperatures.They also indicated that ventilation early in the morning to prevent dew formation on leaves and fruits does not decrease dry matter production.

    ミスト噴霧およびCO2長時間施用がイチゴの生育および収量に及ぼす影響を調査した。1 ミスト噴霧の効果について、ハウスサイドを開放する秋期及び春期には、ミストによりハウス内気温が低下するとともに相対湿度が高く維持された。厳寒期については、ミストを噴霧しなくてもハウス内の相対湿度は高く維持され、効果は小さいと思われた。2 ミスト噴霧により施設内気温を低下させて換気を抑制し、CO2施用時間を延長することが可能か検討した。ハウス閉鎖時のミスト噴霧による施設内気温の低下はわずかであり、ミスト噴霧によりCO2施用時間を大幅に延長することは難しいと思われた。3 日中のCO2濃度を700~1000ppm(ただし換気温度付近では400ppm)とするCO2長時間施用と高めの培養液の給液により、「とちおとめ」ではCO2無施用に対して39~45%、早朝のみの慣行施用に対して21~26%収量が増加した。

    本研究ではCO2施用時に超微粒ミスト噴霧による加湿を行うことが、バラ切り花の収量や品質に及ぼす効果を調査した。超微粒ミスト噴霧により、日中の湿度は平均10%程度高くなり、飽差は超微粒ミストのない条件よりも常に低く維持された。また、超微粒ミストによる換気抑制効果によって、CO2の使用量は低減した。超微粒ミスト噴霧は気孔開度を大きくし、調査した3品種の切り花本数は、5~19%増加した。超微粒ミスト噴霧の有無で日持ちや養分含有率に差は認められず、超微粒ミスト噴霧はCO2施用効果を高めるために有効な方法であると考えられた。

    The area of a cucumber leaf is smallest near the growing point and gradually increases basipetally to a maximum value. On this basis, we created a model for easy estimation of leaf area index (LAI) of cucumber trained on a high-wire from the values of individual leaf area, fresh weight, and number of leaves. Individual leaf area was highly correlated with individual leaf fresh weight. There was a difference in individual leaf area at each leaf position between 28 and 69 days after transplanting, but not in RLA (relative leaf area ratio, which represents the individual leaf area divided by the maximum leaf area) at each leaf position. RLA could be estimated from leaf position (n) as RLA=0,869/1+(14,811×e^-0.51×n) There was a significant correlation (r = 0.980, P<0.001) between measured LAI and LAI estimated from integration value of RLA, number of leaves, and individual leaf area of maximum leaf. There was also a significant correlation (r = 0.928, P<0.001) between measured LAI and LAI estimated from integration value of RLA, number of leaves, and individual leaf fresh weight of maximum leaf. We conclude that LAI of cucumber can be estimated from the number of leaves attached to the stem and either the individual leaf area or the fresh weight of the old leaf pruned regularly.

    Plant foliage depth data obtained with a Kinect for Windows sensor were used to estimate the light-intercepting characteristics of tomato and paprika plants. As a qualitative measure of plant growth, we calculated plant cover ratios per unit area (Ra), defined as the ratio of the area of a horizontal projection of the foliage for a unit plant to the floor area occupied by the plant. To obtain an additional metric for the light-intercepting characteristics of the plants, termed Rp, Ra values were calculated at 1 cm increments starting from the top of a plant to provide an integrated value, Ra&rsquo;; Rp was then calculated by taking the distance from the plant top to the point at which the value of Ra&rsquo; was 80 % of the Ra value for the plant and dividing this distance by the vertical distance from top to bottom of the plant foliage. Analyses using dummy plants and tomato plants showed that Ra values increased and Rp values decreased as the total foliage area increased and light was less able to penetrate downward through the array of leaves. Changes in leaf angle also affected Ra and Rp values. Dummy plants with their leaves horizontal had larger Ra values and smaller Rp values than when the leaves were inclined downward. A comparison of data at sunrise and sunset for paprika plants cultivated in a greenhouse showed that Ra values were larger and Rp values were smaller at sunrise, compared with their respective values at sunset. These relationships are in agreement with changes in leaf attitudes, which were more horizontal at sunrise and slightly drooped at sunset.

    To identify an effective method of CO<sub>2</sub> supply for greenhouse production (plant factory), the effect of increased relative humidity levels (level 1; an average of RH 74.5%; level 2; an average of 86%, and level 3; an average of 97.8%) in growth chambers with cucumber seedlings was investigated under elevated CO<sub>2</sub> concentrations. The photosynthetic rate of seedling growth under CO<sub>2</sub> levels at 1000 ppm was higher than that under CO<sub>2</sub> levels at 500 ppm. In addition, the leaf area of seedlings was larger under level 2 than under level 1. Thus, dry matter production and relative growth rate (RGR) were largest when seedlings were grown in the level 2 chamber. These results indicate that dry matter production increased because of the photosynthetic rate and expansion of leaf areas due to higher humidity. In contrast, dry matter production decreased under level 3 because it was influenced by reduction of photosynthetic rate and in expansion of leaf areas. These results indicate that there is an optimal humidity level for CO<sub>2</sub> supply. Humidity levels should be evaluated according to the photosynthetic rate, leaf area, transpiration, and nutrient uptake, for the production of greenhouse vegetables.

    Effects of temperature, phytohormones, and light on the coloring of fruit were examined in sweet pepper (<i>Capsicum annuum</i> L). Although coloring was promoted at 20 to 25°C in the dark, the fruit reached only a pale red. In addition, reduction in the chlorophyll content was retarded not only below 10°C, but also above 30°C, yielding dark-colored fruit. Changes in the color were not promoted when either ethylene or methyl jasmonate was applied under a dark condition. Although the color value increased when both phytohormones were simultaneously applied, the effects were insufficient for the force-ripening of fruit. On the other hand, irradiation with a fluorescent light under 20°C markedly promoted the coloring of the fruit. The fruit achieved a bright red color more quickly with a higher irradiance (200 µmol quanta・m<sup>-2</sup>・s<sup>-1</sup>). These results indicate that light irradiation plays an important role in the coloring of sweet pepper fruit at an optimal temperature.

    We quantified the residues resulting from greenhouse tomato cultivation. The amount of residue from 10 months' high-wire cultivation was 11.9 kg/m^2, and that from 10 months' low-node-order pinching cultivation was 15.4kg/m^2. The amounts of residues produced from cultivation of several tomato phenotype (cherry, with medium-sized fruits, and with large fruits) were similar, at about 12 to 13kg/m^2. However, the amounts of residue produced from various organs (leaf, stem, and fruit) differed among cultivation systems and phenotypes. We also examined the variations in temperature and in CO_2 and NH_3 production during composting of the tomato residues. CO_2 was produced at high levels during composting. The pattern of production of ammonia was similar that of the temperature variation of the composting residues, and ammonia generation was abundant in the early stages of composting. The temperature of the composting residues changed with the season and with the rate of mixing with sawdust.

    The objective of this research is to develop a fruit-set-reagent spraying robot. The experimental robot comprises a manipulator with three degrees of freedom, a machine vision system, an LED light, a spray unit, and a control unit. The robot can operate at night. The number of flowers was estimated with the petal size. Plants with three or more flowers are at the optimal stage for fruit set, and were detected successfully 93% of the time when flower clusters were directed toward the camera. The fruit-set rate did not differ between manual spraying and robot spraying under these conditions. When flower clusters were hidden by the main stem, the fruit set rate was lower for the robot sprayer.

    To elucidate the practical scale of a movable bench system for strawberry cultivation, we investigated harvesting efficiency using the system. Our results indicated that working hours required for harvesting per cultivation bed depended on the number of mature fruits. If there were relatively few fruits, the working hours depended on the cycle time of the system. In contrast, if there were many fruits, the working hours, which increased in proportion to the number of fruits, were affected by the picking and placing speed of the operator. It also appeared that the maximum practical scale of the system was approximately 770m<SUP>2</SUP> with two operators.

    In this paper, the authors proposed a new protected horticulture system which unites agriculture and engineering with hydrate technology. That is, as to the engineering field, by separating CO_2 from an exhaust gas with hydrate technology, environmental loading reduction such as effective use of CO_2 and reduction of immense expense for CCS are expected. On the other hand, as to agricultural field, by supplying cold energy and CO_2 generated from CO_2 hydrate simultaneously to the protected horticulture, the increase of the photosynthetic rate of crops i.e. the increase agricultural production output is expected.

    The effects of pinching and lowering on cucumber yield and yield components were investigated. A short-term experiment was conducted on 3 cucumber (<i>Cucumis sativus</i> L.) cultivars grown hydroponically in a greenhouse from July to October 2011. Pinching plants were pinched at above 20 leaves on a main branch and at the 2nd leaf on the first lateral branches. Lowering plants were pinched at above 15&ndash;19 leaves on a main branch and not pinched on 4 lateral branches that were lowered with their growth. The fresh fruit yield of pinching plants in all cultivars was higher than in lowering plants. The high fresh fruit yield was caused by the high dry weight yield, and the high dry weight yield was caused by the high dry matter production and distribution of it to fruits. Total dry matter production was correlated with light interception at 40 days after transplanting, but was correlated with light use efficiency, i.e., dry matter production per intercepted light, during the entire experimental period.<br>

    To establish high plant density production of strawberry (<i>Fragaria</i> &times; <i>ananassa</i> Duch) using a movable bench which circulates the planting bed by longitudinal and lateral movement horizontally, three experiments were conducted. Subirrigation combined with supplementary surface irrigation was suitable as the nutrient solution supply method of the movable bench in experiment 1. For row spacing on the movable bench, we found that 0.50 m was the most efficient for fruit yield per m<sup>2</sup> in experiment 2. In experiment 3, based on the results from experiment 1 and 2, we designed and installed an experimental movable bench system of 9.6 m &times; 10.8 m. Three strawberry cultivars (&lsquo;Akihime&rsquo;, &lsquo;Mouikko&rsquo;, &lsquo;Tochiotome&rsquo;) were grown using the movable bench system for forcing culture from September 2008 to May 2009. Marketable fruit yields of strawberries grown using the movable bench (MB) were compared to those grown using a conventional elevated bench (CB). In &lsquo;Akihime&rsquo;, the marketable fruit yield per plant of CB was higher than that of MB. In &lsquo;Mouikko&rsquo; and &lsquo;Tochiotome&rsquo;, there was no significant difference in marketable fruit yield per plant between MB and CB. These results show that twice the number of strawberry plants per m<sup>2</sup> at CB can be grown at MB. They also show that MB can produce almost twice as much fruit yield per m<sup>2</sup> as CB.<br>

    Effects of the amount of irrigation water and its frequency on the yield and growth of tomato (<i>Lycopercicon esculentum</i> Mill) plants under drip fertigation were examined. Treatments consisted of three levels of dripping water quantities (50, 250 and 1,250 mL) combined with two levels of the amount of nutrient application (standard, half dose of the standard). In the 50 mL-irrigated treatment, where plants were irrigated more frequently than in other treatments, more frequent irrigation with reduced amounts of water was most effective for growth and yield of tomato regardless of the nutrient level. Under this treatment, a region with a higher moisture content was formed near soil surface and NO<sub>3</sub><sup>&minus;</sup> concentration in the petiole sap was enhanced. Such factors may have led to stimulation of water uptake and efficient supply of nutrients.<br>

    We investigated the effects of applying a water curtain system on the environmental factors and fruit yield of strawberry during the summer season of 2008 and 2009. Two (in 2008) or three (in 2009) tunnel-shaped neighboring greenhouses of equal size were used in these experiments. The water curtain system was installed in one of the greenhouses (WC greenhouse). During the tests in 2009 only, shading film (30% shade) was installed in another greenhouse (shaded greenhouse). The last of the greenhouses was used as the control greenhouse. In the WC greenhouse, the leaf and growing media temperatures were lower than those in the control greenhouse. The decrease in solar radiation caused by the water curtain system was within several percentage points of that in the control greenhouse. As a result, the strawberry yield was higher than that in the control greenhouse (by 13&ndash;14%). Solar radiation of the shaded greenhouse was 64% of that in the control greenhouse, but the leaf and growing media temperature was almost the same as that in the control greenhouse, and the yield was lower than that in the control greenhouse. These findings indicate that the application of the water curtain system was effective for decreasing the leaf and growing media temperature without reducing solar radiation, and for increasing the strawberry yield during the summer season.<br>

    Effect of changing the environmental factors in a greenhouse covered with double-layered air inflated plastic film (air-inflated greenhouse) on the growth and fruit yield of cucumber in semi-forcing culture was investigated. To determine the advantages, an air-inflated greenhouse was compared with a standard type plastic greenhouse (normal greenhouse). The room temperature, ground temperature and relative humidity were higher, but the solar radiation was lower in the air-inflated greenhouse than in the normal greenhouse. The growth and yield of cucumber were improved in the air-inflated greenhouse. The lower vapor pressure deficit observed in the air-inflated greenhouse increased the stomatal conductance. So the higher room temperature and relative humidity, and the lower vapor pressure deficit increase the photosynthetic rate which improved the yield in the air-inflated greenhouse. The double-layered air inflated greenhouse was effective for both reduction in fuel consumption and increase of fruit yield.<br>

    冬春期のイチゴ生産は、栽培農家の経営面積は一戸当たりおよそ30aである。10a当たり2、000時間近くの労働時間を費やしているにもかかわらず、その収量は10日当たりで3~5トン程度に留まっている。これまで単位面積当たりの収量を向上させることを目的として密植栽培のシステムが開発されてきたが、今回、新たに移動ベンチ栽培による密植栽培のシステムを開発した。このシステムにおける利点は、慣行の栽培方式と同様に平面的にイチゴを配置しながら、通路幅を狭くすることで、栽植密度を上げることが可能であり、従来の立体配置等の方式と比べ採光性に優れ、より増収が期待出来うると考えられる。そこで、本実験では移動ベンチ栽培システムによる密植栽培での一季成り性各品種の適応性を検討した。

    農業分野において用いられるパイプハウスにおいて、冬暖かで夏冷たい井水を内屋根に散水し、保温・冷房機能を低いランニングコストで実施する施設としてウォーターカーテンハウスがある。ハウスの内部では日中地面に日射からの熱を蓄え、これが夜間にハウス内部を保温する熱源となる。内屋根上の水膜の存在は地面からの熱の放出速度に影響を与える。今回の報告では、内屋根上の水膜被覆率がハウス内部の気温に与える影響について計測し、考察を行った。

    To increase strawberry yields through the use of high-density culture, we developed a system that circulates movable benches longitudinally and laterally past an overhead watering unit, a sub-irrigation unit, and a chemical spraying unit. Each bench can load 13 plant pots, allowing a planting density of 125000 plants per ha. Evaluation of the basic functions showed an operation time of 71.2s per cycle and the consumption of 3.67Wh of electricity per cycle. The movable bench reached a maximum acceleration of approximately 1.47m/s<sup>2</sup> (0.15G) when the lateral movement unit stopped, and in the transfer of the benches between the longitudinal unit and the lateral movement unit no collision between fruits on the same plant was observed. The results show the possibility of high-density culture of strawberry on movable benches.

    施設園芸で最も深刻な問題である連作障害が回避できる、自動化、省力化ができ規模拡大や生産性向上が可能である。さらに快適な作業環境を構築できる、という多くの特長を有する養液栽培について検討し、以下の点を明らかにした。1)宮城県における養液栽培の実態をアンケート調査した。その結果、養液栽培の普及が遅滞している原因として、装置設備が高価であること、設備費に対する収量性や収益性が不十分であること、ランニングコストが高いことが明らかとなり、また培養液「かけ流し」方式のロックウール耕が主流であり、環境負荷が問題であることが指摘された。2)培養養液管理システムと栽培ベッドを検討し、低コストで環境負荷を軽減できる循環型養液栽培システムを開発した。このシステムは有機質培地を使用する場合は従来のロックウール耕に比べて約1/4、土壌を培地とする場合は約1/3の低コストにすることが可能であることを明らかにした。3)有機質資材を培地とする循環型養液栽培を検討し、有機質資材としてはやし殻繊維が最適であること、アンモニウム態窒素を最小限とする培養液処方が商品果収量、商品果率を向上させることを明らかにした。4)土壌を培地とする循環型かん水施肥システムを開発し、トマトの高糖度果実生産の可能性を明らかにした。

    Tomato plants were grown in a closed hydroponic system using coir or rockwool as substrate (coir-and rockwool-systems) for about 5 months to study the effects of NO_3-N/NH_4-N ratios of nutrient solution on the fluctuation of ion concentration in a recirculating nutrient solution and the growth and yield of tomato. Three nutrient solutions varied in NO_3-N/NH_4-N ratios (14.8 mM/ 1.2 mM=standard solution, 16/0=solution I, 12/4=solution II) were designed to produce neutral, basic and acidic condition in the medium. The results obtained were as follows : 1 . In solution I and standard solution plots, the pH of the recirculating solution was more stable in coir-system than in rockwool-system, whereas in the solution II plot, the pH was drastically decreased. 2 . In coir-system, ion conceuatrations in the recirculating solution were much more stable than those in rockwool-system, especially in solution I. 3 . Plant vigour was the strongest in the standard solution plot in both systems, and in the coir-system, total yields were the highest in the standard solution plot, but marketable fruits yields were the highest in solution I plot. In rockwool-systems, total yields were highest in the solution I plot, and there were little difference between solution I and standard solution in marketable fruit yields. Of all the plots, the marketable fruit yields were the highest in the solution I plot in the coir-system. 4 . In the coir-system, the higher pH of the recirculating solution made the CEC of substrate increase in solution I, which contained NO_3-N alone as its nitrogen source, and reduce the fluctuation of ion concentration. Consequently both marketable fruit ratios and yields became the highest among the treatments.

    The effects of soil and rockwool as substrates, soil-and rockwool-system, respectively, on the fluctuation of ion concentration in a drained nutrient solution of a closed fertigation system and the growth and yield of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. Hausu-Momotaro) were compared. The following results were obtained 149 days after transplanting. 1. The pH of the drained nutrient solution fluctuated less in the soil-system than it did in the rockwool-system. 2. The composition of both cations and anions was more stable in the soil-system than it was in the rockwool-system. In the rockwool-system, sodium and sulphate concentrations increased between 89 to 126 days after transplanting while those of potassium and nitrate decreased. 3. Physiological disorders were not observed in both soil-and rockwool-systems. 4. Vegetative growth was more vigorous and total yield was higher in tomato plants grown in the rockwool-system than in the soil-system but the percentage of marketable fruits was higher in the latter. There was no significant difference in the marketable yields between the two systems. 5. Closed-fertigation soil-system may be more suitable for tomato fruit production than the rockwool-system because of the stability of the pH and ion composition of the drained nutrient solution.

    人工光型育苗装置において,フィルムを活用したトマトの大苗育苗法を開発した。本方式は,苗の周囲をTAC(三酢酸セルロース: Tri acetyl cellulose)で覆うことにより,支柱などを設置しなくても,転倒せずに大苗育苗が可能であった。また,プラグトレイなどでトマト苗を20日以上育苗すると,相互に葉が絡まり合うため,たとえ生育ができたとしても,取り出しが困難となるが,本手法では,葉が相互に絡まることなく取り出しが可能であった。通常の湿度を通過しないフィルムでは,徒長および葉色の低下が認められたが,TACフィルムを使用した場合は,フィルムで覆わないものと同等の苗が育苗可能であった。花数も対照と同等の数が維持され,この手法は生産現場にも導入できる可能性が高い。実際,フィルム内の湿度を計測したところ,通常の透湿性のないフィルムでは,TACフィルムに比べ湿度が高く推移した。連続した過湿条件により徒長や葉色の低下が発生したものと考えられた。一方で,より好適な環境に維持されるTACフィルムでは,このような障害が回避され,良質の大苗が生産された。

    比較的高度な環境制御装置を備えた「閉鎖型温室(closed greenhouse,閉鎖グリーンハワス)」あるいは「閉鎖型太陽光植物工場(closed plant factory with solar light)」で商業的に大規模な生産販売を行なっている例は,筆者らの知る限り,2016年現在,世界のどこにも見あたらない。本稿では,この閉鎖型温室の開発と実用化を日本で試みることの意義と必要性および技術開発の課題などについて述べる。閉鎖型温室は,1990年代から2000年初めにかけて,オランダでかなりの研究開発がなされた。その特徴は1年サイクルの長期蓄放熱にある。すなわち,夏期は閉鎖型温室の余剰熱を地下の帯水層(Aquifier)に蓄熱し(温室冷房),冬期は暖房熱源としてその熱を取り出す(温室暖房)。実用規模の試験的トマト生産が行なわれ,20%の収量増と30%の暖房費節減がなされたが,運営コスト高や室内の多湿・乾燥による病気発生などにより,結局,普及に至っていないとされている。閉鎖型温室の研究は,同時期に,スウェーデン,ドイツ,トルコ,カナダ,フィンランドなどでも行われた。オランダなどでの閉鎖型温室プロジェクトに関する上述の総説などを踏まえて,本稿では,長期蓄熱に関しては検討課題としていない。閉鎖型温室に対する日本での関心は,要約すれば,(1) 温室構造の単純化と耐風性の向上,(2) 環境制御の高度化による収量・品質の向上および(3) 病虫害作業時間軽減に対する期待にある。一方で,多くの解決すべき問題点がある。それらの両面について本稿で述べる。

    In this research, a plant factory system using CO2 hydrate has been considered. We conducted an experiment with Japanese mustard spinach in the plant factory for five days in each humidity, temperature and CO2 concentration condition. As a result, we demonstrated that Japanese mustard spinach could be grown in the plant factory system by using CO2 hydrate and found out that humidity control is vital for the plant growth. We also showed that this system could enhance the growth of the plant. In order to use the system mentioned in this study in the practice, larger trials are needed to consider the feasibility of plant factory system using solar light and commercial-scale operation.On the other hand, the freshness preservation in the fruit and vegetables by CO2 hydrate technology was considered. Although x-ray diffraction intensity changed with the kind and reaction conditions of fruit and vegetables, the diffraction peak of CO2 hydrate origin was accepted.
