    The oxygen partial pressure critically governs the sequential phase transformation from Ta<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub> to Ta<sub>3</sub>N<sub>5</sub>via β-TaON. An oxygen flow rate of 0.25 L h<sup>−1</sup> defines the narrow synthesis region necessary for obtaining phase-pure β-TaON.

    SrTaO<sub>2</sub>N single crystals grown from SrCl<sub>2</sub>–SrO binary flux were larger than SrCl<sub>2</sub> sole flux. The addition of SrO is effective to make their chemical composition using SrCl<sub>2</sub>–SrO binary flux closer to the stoichiometric ratio compared to SrCl<sub>2</sub> sole flux.

    Lithium titanate (Li_4Ti_5O_<12>) crystal layers, useful as anode material for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, were successfully grown on surfaces of lithium-ion conducting glass via an atmospheric pressure plasma-assisted flux coating (APP-FC) method. First, TiO_x layers have been fabricated on a lithium-ion conducting glass substrate by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition using a titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) and oxygen. Then, TiO_x layers were converted to Li_4Ti_5O_<12> crystal layers by APP-FC method. In addition, the form and thickness of the crystal layers depended on the growth conditions such as the starting composition and an atmospheric pressure N_2 plasma irradiation time.

    LiCoO_2 (LCO) crystal layers were fabricated on cobalt-coated aluminum substrate by flux coating method at holding temperature of 500℃. Metallic cobalt layer was used as a solute, and LiNO_3 was used as both flux and solute. Metallic cobalt layer was used as a solute. The XRD pattern of the sample showed that LCO was generated on the aluminum substrate without any byproducts after flux coating. The LCO crystal layers consisted of a number of plate-like crystals, which almost grew vertically to the substrate. When the holding temperature was increased at 600℃, Al_9Co_2 was generated as a byproduct. The thickness of the cobalt metal layer decreased by increasing the holding time, whereas the obtained crystal phase was not affected.

    One-dimensional NiO and CeO_2 crystals were successfully grown by the cooling of chloride flux. NiCl_2・6H_2O or CeCl_3・nH_2O powders were used as the solute, and LiCl and KCl were chosen as the flux. The mixtures were heated to 700-900℃ for 10 h, and then cooled to 350℃ at rate of 200℃-h^<-1>. The NiO crystals had average sizes up to 481×3.65 μm. The morphology of the CeO_2 crystals clearly depended on the growth conditions, such as the holding temperature and Ce concentration. From X-ray diffraction pattern, the one-dimensional NiO and CeO_2 crystals elongated in the <100> directions.

    Ta_3N_5 is one of the potential candidates for visible-light-driven photocatalyst in water splitting. In this study, Ta_3N_5 crystal layers were successfully fabricated on Ta substrates via two- and one-step processes including flux coating method. In two-step fabrication, high-quality nano-/microtextured NaTaO_3 crystal layers were directly fabricated on a Ta substrate by flux coating method using NaNO_3, and the NaTaO_3 crystal layers were subsequently transformed to Ta_3N_5 crystal layers by heating under NH_3 flow. The individual Ta_3N_5 crystals retained the original sizes and shapes of NaTaO_3 crystals but became highly porous after nitridation. In one-step fabrication, well-developed Ta_3N_5 crystals were directly grown on Ta substrates by heating under NH_3 with Na compounds. When Na_2CO_3-NaCl mixture was used as the flux, prism-like Ta_3N_5 crystals were uniformly grown.

    本研究では、次世代パワーデバイス用材料のひとつとして期待されるβ-酸化ガリウムエピタキシャル層を水溶液法により形成することを目的とする。通常、β-酸化ガリウム層は500℃~1000℃の高温かつ高真空を利用する気相法で作製される。それに対し、低温・低温エネルギー、かつ大気圧を利用する水溶液法でのβ-酸化ガリウム層形成が可能となれば、環境負荷の低減だけでなく、製造コスト低減によりβ-酸化ガリウムの普及への一助となると考えられる。本研究では、水溶性ガリウム塩であるヘキサフルオロガリウム酸アンモニウムを合成し、その水溶液中での加水分解反応を制御することで、従来は困難であった水溶液中でのβ-酸化ガリウム層形成を目指す。また、Non-Seed CBD (Chemical Bath Deposition, 化学浴堆積)法を利用することで、β-酸化ガリウムエピタキシャル層の低温直接形成を目指す。
    本年度は、ボールミル装置の導入とヘキサフルオロガリウム酸アンモニウムの合成に注力した。硝酸ガリウムn水和物とフッ化アンモニウムのメカノケミカル反応によるヘキサフルオロガリウム酸アンモニウム合成を試みた。原料由来の水和水が存在するため、ヘキサフルオロガリウム酸アンモニウムと副生物の硝酸アンモニウムが両方とも溶解した状態の溶液が得られるが、貧溶媒析出法を利用することで、ヘキサフルオロガリウム酸アンモニウムを分離できることを見出した。得られたヘキサフルオロガリウム酸アンモニウムは不純物相をわずかに含むが、全て水に溶解したことから、ガリウム含有量を定量すればβ-酸化ガリウム成膜実験に使用可能と考えられる。

    Solution-processed ZnO films could exhibit transparent conductivity after UV irradiation. The irradiation of UV-A and UV(λ = 380 nm) only for 1 hour attained the conductivity. The transparent circuit was drawn by UV laser irradiation and the conductive are had 3 order lower resistivity than without irradiation area. The rectification property was obtained the ZnO films deposited on p-Si and p-GaN substrate. The Mn doped ZnO film exhibited the saturation magnetization of 1.68x10-2 emu/g.
    It is valuable result that the transparent conductive magnetic ZnO film could be fabricated by solution process.

    We propose a novel method, termed “glass-flux growth,” for fabrication of composite materials formed by crystals and glass matrices with different chem-ical phases, with well-connected and pure interfaces. In traditional flux method, the remaining fluxes are removed from the final products to isolate the target crys-tals. We expect that if the flux itself can form functional glass phases, the flux method can fabricate a variety of crystal-glass composites. Herein, we fabricated a compo-site of lithium transition metal oxide crystals and glass ma-trix by the glass-flux growth process. Their interfaces were well-connected and very smooth, without impurity phases. The glass-flux method is very simple, inexpensive, envi-ronmentally-friendly, like the traditional flux method. In future, the use of such “glass-flux growth” processes will become increasingly important in the fabrication of vari-ous functional material composites.

    Solution process is a promising technique for realizing low-temperature, low-cost, environmentally-friendly fabrication of materials compared to conventional solid-state-reaction method and vapor-phase method. In this study, reactive spin coating method, a new solution process, was developed and fabrication of ZnO films for the application to transparent conductive oxides were examined. As a results, we achieved fabrication of ZnO crystal on glass substrate by reactive spin coating method. Moreover, a new additive which can control the film structure precisely were found.

    In the present research, based on the research stage of "On the creation of highly crystalline materials aiming for an energy and environmental device applications," we attempted to provide some examples of the concept of flux coating method. In the flux coating method, a principal investigator pioneers the leading edge, and introduced materials design for inorganic materials synthesis based on the knowledge of researchers and engineers. Flux crystal growth and coating method are the optimum technologies that connect computational science and experimental system, and highly efficient and highly crystalline materials (perticles and layers) were fabricated by integrating with in-situ observation / analysis technologies. In addition, we proposed some kinds of energy and environmental devises utilizing the flux-grown crystals.

    In this research, we aim low-temperature fabrication of metal oxide crystal films for substitution of tin-doped indium oxide by a new film processing technique which can achieve low environmental load, high deposition rate, and cost effectiveness. ZnO films with visible-light transparency over 70 percents and electrical resistivity about 5X10-3 ohm cm were successfully fabricated by spin-spray method with controlling the flow rate of solution and rotation rate of table. When water-soluble polymer was used as an additive, the crystal shape was changed by different manner with trisodium citrate. The performance of ZnO films prepared by using water-soluble polymer was not improved compared with those prepared with trisodium citrate. The results indicated that the adsorbed organics and film structure strongly affected electrical properties.

    The source solution containing Zn ion and the reaction solution containing NH3 and trisodiumcitrate were sprayed on heated substrate to deposit transparet ZnO film. The deposited film treated by hydrogen treatment prior to UV irradiation exhibited the lowest resistivity of 1.8×10-3 Ω・cm. The transparent conductive ZnO films were successfully fabricated even on plastic substrate(PES), The transparent circuit could be drawn in solution-processed ZnO films by irradiating UV only in restricted area. The utilization of ammine complex enbled to develop a novel solution process in which only one solution was used for depositing transparent conductive ZnO films.
