    This paper describes characteristics of current imbalance in AC-operated superconducting coil and trial for its suppression with iron core method. Measurements of strand current in the frequency less than —1 Hz revealed that the current imbalance significantly occurred to the frequency increase, and that the critical frequency almost corresponds to a frequency where the coil leakage inductance is comparable to the coil resistive. Such a current imbalance was not seriously affected by ferromagnetic materials set in the coil. The iron core method was effective for suppression of the current imbalance, especially in the low frequency region, and inductance measurements suggested that the suppression effect was attributed to inductance compensation as well as reduction of effective electro-magnetic coupling between coil strands.

    Super conducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) is very promising for the future power storage system because of fast response, low loss and high efficiency. We proposed the Force-balanced Coil (FBC) conccpt for the SMES and demons trated it by the experiment. Moreover, we studied on coil winding configuration for SMES. The results were compared with the toroidal type configuration and ordinary helical type one. It is shown that the Force-balanced Coil is superior than the others in view points of electromagnetic force and per-unit length stored energy of the superconductor. Finally, optimization of the Force-balanced Coil for SMES (FBC-SMES) has been done. The key parameters of super conductor stress, length, maximum field and stored energy were surveyed and optimized under the restriction of critical field and critical current. It is shown that the optimized FBC-SMES is obtained in case of which parameters are pitch ρ=3 and aspect ratio A=1.79

    再生可能エネルギーの導入量増大、電力自由化が進む現在、電力変動に対してレジリエンス(復元力)が働き系統が安定して運転できるかどうかの指標である系統安定度が測定できていない問題がある。本研究は、超電導磁気エネルギー貯蔵(SMES)を用いて系統に正弦波状の微小電力変動を与えて系統の振動モード(固有値)を直接測定する手法の工学的根拠を示すことを目的とする。実系統で発生する電力動揺(振動)は複雑な振動モードが混在するため、測定場所を変えながら系統安定度を評価できるようにする必要がある。そのため、固有値測定を目的としたSMES装置には可搬性が求められる。これまで、SMES用超電導コイルの概略設計を行い、冷凍機を停止した時の超電導コイルの温度上昇時間(熱時定数)と再冷却時間を概算し郊外の太陽光発電所や風力発電所、都市部の変電所での固有値測定を想定したSMESの運転シナリオを検討してきた。2022年度は主としてSMES用超電導コイルの要素技術開発を行い、超電導導体の候補として二ホウ化マグネシウム(MgB2)素線を用いた多数本撚線導体の設計・開発を進めてきた。また、撚線導体短尺試料やモデルコイルを冷凍機を用いて20 Kないし10 Kで冷却するための実験環境の整備を進め、断熱真空容器と冷却ステージの設計・製作を行い、実験装置の侵入熱および冷凍機の冷凍能力を評価するための予備実験を実施した。加えて本研究では超電導コイルの軽量化を実現するために、電磁力支持材重量を大幅に低減させたヘリカルコイル(電磁力平衡コイル)を提案している。3次元の複雑な巻線形状を有する電磁力平衡コイルの製作技術を検討するため、巻線機の小型試作機開発を進めてきた。

    YBCO high-temperature superconducting wires are expected as superconducting wires that enable the development of high-field superconducting coils. However, because the critical current (the maximum current that can maintain the superconducting state) is drastically reduced by mechanical strain, special considerations for the coiling technology are required to prevent from a decrease in the critical current due to extra winding tension and bending strain. This study challenged to develop a helical coil which has a three-dimensionally complex shaped winding. It is considered difficult to fabricate a helical coil using YBCO tape-shaped wires because complex strains such as tension and bending are simultaneously applied to the YBCO wires. From the results of short sample tests, a winding machine development and coil excitation tests, this study showed technical solutions for the winding method of a high-temperature superconducting helical coil without a decrease in the critical current.

    The objective of this work is to establish the diagnostic method for the mechanical damages in YBCO high temperature superconducting tapes using ultrasonic waves. Two acoustic emission (AE) sensors are set on both sides of the YBCO tape surface. The one sensor is used as a transmitter and the other sensor is used as a receiver which receives the AE signals through the YBCO tapes. To delaminate the layer structure of the YBCO tapes, the one sample is partly applied by heat stresses and the other sample is partly applied by mechanical stresses. The transfer characteristics of the AE signals are measured in room temperature. From the results, the transfer characteristics of the delaminated samples are reduced, which fact shows the feasibility of the proposed diagnostic method. Although high accuracy diagnostic techniques can be established, the further investigations of the relationship between the transfer characteristics and the critical current properties are required.

    We developed magnetic nanoparticles, an evaluating system of dynamic magnetic properties of a nano-particle suspension and a design of an alternating magnetic field (AMF) applicator in order to realize the hyperthermia using magnetic nanoparticles.
    Fe based oxide nanoparticles were developed with attention to biological compatibility. A dynamic magnetization process was investigated with a newly developed high-resolution measurement system for the effective use of AMF and the evaluation of the heating mechanism. Addition of DC magnetic field to AMF gives us information on relaxation behaviors and on a possibility of combination uses with other diagnostic and therapies.
    A design of a large-scaled AMF applicator for real therapy was created. A magnetic field generator was newly designed using a separated parallel resonate circuit and an inverter circuit to avoid the high voltage operation. A possibility as a real usage was confirmed by making a prototype magnet in this research.

    Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) is expected as an ideal energy storage system because of high efficiency and high power density. In this work, an experimental study on power converter systems for superconducting coils was carried out, and a 200 V-100 A class prototype converter has been developed. From the experimental results using a superconducting coil cooled with liquid helium (4.2 K), the power control capability to the superconducting coil was verified, and the feasibility as a power converter system for SMES was demonstrated.

    Stress distributions of a compact tokamak device Tbdoroki-II with TF-CS hybrid type forte-balanced coils were measured. The measured values were similar to analytically evaluated values, and the reduction of stress was experimentally confirmed.]
    A fully-inonduced current start up process of a spherical torus (ST) with a transport model of CDBM was numerically simulated. This results show the possibility of a current oscillation by interactions of profiles of internal transport barrier, pressure and boot strap current. A possibility of an over-drive of plasma current was also shown.
    A finite Larmor radius effect in ST is important because of the weakness of magnetic field compared with that of conventional tokamak. A computation code to calculate trajectory and diffusion coefficient without guiding center approximation was developed. The results were compared with those of conventional tokamak by guiding center approximation. Especially, we investigated an anomalous diffusion by a resonance of toroidal field ripple and banana particles, and evaluated an energy dependence of the diffusion coefficients. The result shows that Larmor motion affects the toroidal phase of banana tip, and softens the resonance. In order to investigate the physical mechanism of the resonance, we use the simple equilibrium configuration with a circular cross section of a conventional tokamak. We numerically found that the peaks of diffusion coefficients appears around the resonance energies of axisymmetric magnetic field. Moreover, distortion of trajectories by the resonance in a phase space makes island configurations, transverse motions by collisions enhance the diffusion.
