バーンアウト研究の成果はヒューマン・サービス業を中心に蓄積され、製造業をはじめとする一般産業界の従業員を対象とするものが極めて少ない(王・椿田・ 関口, 2017)。その背景には、バーンアウトという状態がそもそも看護の現場での観察から見出されたという経緯が一因であると考えられる。しかし、バーンアウトは自己と仕事との関係のなかで生じる問題であり、製造業でも十分発生し得る。
本研究は、日本の製造業で実践されている改善活動(原価改善やTQC、JIT生産方式など)が製造現場のバーンアウト(燃え尽き症候群)をもたらしているかを明らかにし、またバーンアウトしているならその発生要因を解明し、企業業績への影響を考察することを目的としている。
本年度は2年目であるために、１年目で収集した資料を再度整理して、フィールド調査に入り元トヨタ自動車生産調査部長の田中正知氏をはじめ積極的に実務の方と交流し、実務における状況の把握に努めた。フィールド調査の結果、実務において、本研究が想定している問題、すなわち、終わりのないコスト低減のプレッシャーにより、日本の製造現場が精神的に追い込まれ極度の消耗を経てバーンアウトに陥っている可能性があることが分かった。 -
