    「使役」と「勧誘」の概念を表す語彙の交代関係を研究するにあたり、本年度は(i)「使役」表現につき、古英語において使用頻度の高いhatan及びそれに接頭辞のついた派生動詞の意味を分析した。また(ii)「勧誘」表現については、古英語文献と、それに似た趣旨を持つ古高ドイツ語文献を題材に、命令文との関連を分析した。更に(iii)「勧誘」を表す、定動詞が文頭に現れる語順における助動詞utonとその他の助動詞の使用される文脈を分析した。これらの成果の一部は所属大学の紀要『明治大学教養論集』への寄稿論文執筆、日本歴史言語学会(国内開催)における口頭発表において公表した。また年度末に他の論文執筆も行い、今後出版の見込みがある。
    本年度の研究は、「使役」と「勧誘」の文脈の根底に、それらの語彙を使用する話者が聞き手にも関する行為を実現しようとする「意志」が暗示されていることを考察した。「使役」概念について、古英語文献では権威ある者が自ら望む行為を他の者に対して命じるといった文脈が見られる。また「勧誘」の概念については、宗教的思想等の観点からふさわしい、望ましい行いを話者が聞き手と共に実現するように呼びかけるという解釈が可能である。こうした知見は今後も各文脈の読み取りにより深化させていくが、それと同時に両概念を「意志」及びそれと密接な関連にある「義務」や「許可」といったモダリティの枠組みにより分析する研究を行っていく。これにより文献学・理論言語学の両視点を取り入れた複合的な研究を形作る。
